Lionel is the Executive Director of Zero Waste SG.

Whether in public commentaries or ZWSG’s community initiatives, Lionel emphasises the importance of behavioural change alongside infrastructure solutions to support effective recycling and resource conservation, aligning with broader national sustainability goals and the principles of a zero-waste, circular economy.

Under his leadership, ZWSG has set up 2 Sort It Out Recycling Hubs in Queenstown and Pioneer to advocate for source-segregated recycling, with the intention to scale to one-stop Zero Waste Hubs that integrate the reuse, refill, and recycle infrastructure at the community level. He has also launched a pre-school circularity education initiative, The Zero Waste Explorers Programme, with an am to provide much needed education for youths at a toddler age, while ensuring that educators and caregivers are well equipped to continue the conversations and actions of waste reduction. 

He also supports various NEA campaigns and is a Youth for Environmental Sustainability (YES) Mentor for NEA’s YES! Leaders Programme.
